6 Million In 4 Months?!

We all know that Wii consoles are selling like hotcak ...no better yet... Playstations. (You see what I did there?) But with all the numbers being thrown out each week of the hundreds of thousands sold I think it's easy to miss just how well it's doing. The latest numbers from VG Charts have the Wii at 6.03 million units sold which is in just slightly over 4 months. In comparison it took the GameCube 5 years to sell 21.52 million units. That's a measly 4.3 million units a year. 12 Months to sell 4.3 million and it's only taken 4 months for the Wii to sell 6 million! Granted this is including the launch figures which contribute to the largest sales of any console but if the Wii has any legs at all it could surpass the sales of the GameCube in less than two years!

So in simple terms the Wii is one of the best things to happen to Nintendo in recent years. Nintendo took a big risk straying from the normal path and so far it's paying off tremendously.
